Green Spider Plant 

Chlorophytum comosum

Family: Asparagaceae

Imagine this plant in its native tropical African environment surrounded by humid air and warm temperatures. The long narrow leaves grow to about 18” long, an 1 inch wide, and can be green, or both green and white (variegated),The roots are fleshy and tuberous. Produces small white flowers on long stems. A perennial in zones 9 and warmer with partial sun exposure, the Spider plant makes an excellent houseplant for colder zones.

Caring for your plant: 

• Use a regular potting soil/substrate with a pH of 6-7.
• Daily misting provides humidity.  
• Spider plants enjoy bright filtered light. Direct sun will burn its leaves. 
• Spider plants like even moisture; but they don't like to be too dry or too wet. 
• Best growing temp range: 65-90 degrees F.  Do not expose to temperatures below 50 degrees F.
• Fertilize once a month from spring through fall  with an all-purpose fertilizer.
• Water with dechlorinated water.
• The Spider plant is fast growing and can easily become pot bound. Once pot bound the plant starts producing plantlets. Repot once it outgrows its container into one that's at least a couple of inches larger. 
• Mature size: Approx. 24” tall and wide and longer when producing plantlets.
• When plantlets have formed roots, snip the plantlet from the mother plant and repot it into a 4” pot to make a new plant.

Non-toxic to humans and dogs. Keep away from cats. Cat owners should be aware that spider plants contain certain compounds that act as mild hallucinogens and may cause gastric distress.

What you can expect to receive:  

You will receive one green spider plant at least 12” tall in a quart pot (as pictured). Your plant may or may not have plantlets forming. Well rooted. The perfect size for planting into a 10” or 12” hanging basket.

When you receive your order:

1. Upon arrival promptly open the box and carefully remove the plant from its packaging.

2. Give your plant a drink of water if its dry.

3. Report any damages and include pictures right away.
